    Review residence paperwork

Before you prepare visa or residence documents

Spanish residence routes depend on nationality, work situation, income, family, timing, documents and whether you are applying from Spain or abroad. The right route should be reviewed before preparing documents or booking appointments.

This page gives a practical overview. It does not replace review of your documents, nationality, income, family position or immigration history.

NIE is not the same as residence. TIE is not the same as NIE.

Beckham Law is a tax question, not a visa

If you are moving to Spain for work, remote work or professional reasons, Beckham Law may be worth reviewing separately as a tax regime. It is not the visa itself.

    Immigration route

First, clarify your residence route — visa, EU registration or family route.

    Tax regime review

Then, if relevant, review whether Beckham Law timing and requirements should be considered.

Buying property does not automatically give residence

Buying property in Spain does not automatically give you residence. The previous Golden Visa route should not be presented as an active route for new applicants. If you want to buy and live in Spain, your residence route should be reviewed separately.
